Yes, but the leg between the parks sets the limits. The 2026 timetables we checked show no scheduled nonstop from Sorong (SOQ) to Labuan Bajo (LBJ), so you connect via Makassar, back through Bali, or by private charter. Ten days is possible only with zero buffer and a single Komodo day; 12 days is the realistic floor.

Why is the Sorong to Labuan Bajo leg the hard part?
Both ends of a combined trip are easy. Bali to Raja Ampat has a scheduled route, including Garuda’s overnight nonstop to Sorong. Bali to Labuan Bajo has several flights a day.
The problem sits in the middle. Sorong is in Southwest Papua. Labuan Bajo is on the western tip of Flores. The two airports are roughly 1,500 km apart in a straight line, and no scheduled flight links them directly in the 2026 schedules we reviewed. Domestic timetables change by season, so check again on the day you book.
That means the day you leave your Raja Ampat boat usually involves a ferry or harbour transfer, two flights and a hub. Get that day right and the rest of the trip falls into place.

What are the three ways to connect Sorong and Labuan Bajo?
Distances below are approximate great-circle figures between the airports. They show how much flying each option adds, not a flight time.

When does Makassar make sense?
Sorong to Makassar is a busy domestic sector, and Makassar sits close to Flores. On paper it is the most efficient hub. In practice it only works in one day if an onward Makassar to Labuan Bajo seat exists on your date. Check that seat first. If it does not exist, you are spending a night in Makassar, which few travellers want.
In the wet season, ask for a hub connection of 3 to 4 hours rather than the minimum.
When is going back through Bali better?
Flying Sorong to Bali (nonstop or one stop), then Bali to Labuan Bajo covers more distance. It is also the easiest option to repair when something slips, because the Bali to Labuan Bajo sector runs several times a day.
Many travellers turn it into a planned night in Bali between the two boats. That night costs a day, but it gives you laundry, a proper bed and a safety margin. Budget for the return fare too: Garuda’s Sorong to Bali one-way economy fare is quoted on request for your dates and booking channel, so check it on the day you book.
What about a private charter?
A charter removes the hub entirely. It is quoted per aircraft and per date, and cost and availability depend on the operator, so we give no standard figure. It suits groups whose boat dates leave no room for a hub, or anyone who values the saved day more than the charter price.
How does your boat drop-off time decide the connection?
The connection day starts when your Raja Ampat boat drops you off, not when your flight leaves. Many programmes finish in Waisai, so the ferry schedule matters.
According to the timetable in force from 1 Sep 2026, the Sorong to Waisai ferry sails daily at 09:00 and 14:00 in both directions, about two hours each way. On public holidays only the 14:00 sailing runs. Sorong Airport is 15 to 20 minutes by car from the port. Paparisahomestay warns that Grab and Gojek may not pick up at the airport or harbour, so book a car in advance.

These arrival times are planning estimates built from the ferry schedule and road time. They do not allow for check-in cut-offs, so treat anything tight as a reason to add a night.
Going the other way, from Komodo to Raja Ampat, the same hubs apply. The difference is that your Raja Ampat boat has a fixed departure, so arriving in Sorong the day before boarding matters more than saving a night.
Can you fit Bali, Raja Ampat and Komodo into 10 days?
Only just, and only if everything lines up. The arithmetic is set by three fixed blocks: the overnight flight to Sorong, a Raja Ampat programme, and the inter-park connection. Komodo Luxury’s Raja Ampat programmes usually run from 7D6N to 11D10N, each a whole-boat charter with captain, crew and private chef. Even the shortest one uses seven of your ten days.

The 10-day version works only if all of these hold:
- GA 686 flies on your date. FlightConnections and fltmapper snapshots from September 2026 show Garuda GA 686 leaving Bali at 01:30 to 01:40 and landing in Sorong at 05:40, early enough to board the same day. FlightRoutes lists it on Thursday, Friday or Sunday. On other days you face a one-stop via Makassar, which FlightRoutes puts at about 6h35.
- You leave the boat in time for a same-day flight. That means a Sorong drop-off or the 09:00 ferry, and no public holiday.
- Same-day seats exist on both connecting sectors.
- You accept one day in Komodo. Park tickets are dated, and a single day on the water out of Labuan Bajo is a sample, not a sailing.
Break any one of those and the trip becomes 11 or 12 days, or Komodo drops out. There is no buffer, so a delay on day 8 costs you Komodo entirely.
What are your options if you only have 10 days?
If your dates are fixed at ten days, choose deliberately rather than hoping the connection holds:
- Keep Raja Ampat, skip Komodo. Use the spare days for post-trip nights in Bali. This is the lowest-risk choice.
- Charter the inter-park sector. It can save the hub time, but it will not add days to the calendar.
- Shorten Raja Ampat. Any stay below 7D6N means a different trip format and fewer sites, so compare carefully before trading reef days for a Komodo day.
- Add two days. At 12 days you get a dedicated connection day and a buffer that turns into Komodo time when nothing goes wrong.
What should you confirm before booking the connection?
Run this check before paying for any flight:
- GA 686 operating days for your exact outbound date
- Your boat’s drop-off point (Sorong or Waisai) and drop-off time
- Whether the connection day falls on an Indonesian public holiday
- Same-day seats on SOQ to UPG and UPG to LBJ, or SOQ to DPS and DPS to LBJ
- One ticket or separate tickets; on separate tickets a missed onward flight is usually your problem
- A pre-booked car in Sorong
- A Komodo start date that still works if the connection runs a day late
