How does the Bali to Sorong leg work?
Non-divers use the same route as everyone else. FlightConnections and fltmapper snapshots from September 2026 show Garuda Indonesia GA 686 as the DPS-SOQ nonstop, roughly once a week, leaving 01:30-01:40 and landing 05:40. Other days connect via Makassar (UPG) or Jakarta (CGK); FlightRoutes puts a Makassar connection at about 6h35. Garuda economy fares are quoted on request for your travel date.
Sorong airport is 15-20 minutes by car from the port, and Grab or Gojek may not pick up there, according to Paparisahomestay. For a land base, the Sorong-Waisai ferry takes about two hours and, from 1 September 2026, sails daily at 09:00 and 14:00 each way.
