About Bali Raja Ampat Travel Desk | Komodo Luxury

The Bali Raja Ampat travel desk is Komodo Luxury’s planning service for travellers who start in Bali and want to reach Raja Ampat without guesswork. It handles DPS-SOQ flights, connections through Makassar or Jakarta, Sorong transfers, the Waisai ferry, combined Bali + Raja Ampat itineraries of 7-14 days, and hotel stays in Bali before or after.

Komodo Luxury is an award-winning operator based in Labuan Bajo. Its reservations team handles bookings made through this desk directly. Juara Holding Group publishes the website.

What does the Bali Raja Ampat travel desk actually do?

It handles the connection. On a nonstop day, Bali and Sorong are about three hours apart. On most other days, plan on 6-10 hours door to door, not counting transfers.

FlightConnections and fltmapper snapshots from September 2026 show Garuda Indonesia GA 686 as the DPS-SOQ nonstop. It flies roughly once a week on a Boeing 737-800, leaves Ngurah Rai at 01:30-01:40 and lands at Domine Eduard Osok (SOQ) at 05:40. On the other days you connect through Makassar (UPG) or Jakarta (CGK). FlightRoutes puts the Makassar routing at about 6h35 in total.

What the desk covers:

  • Flights and routing: the nonstop if your dates fit, otherwise a one-stop route with 3-4 hour hub connections in the wet season.
  • Sorong ground transfer: 15-20 minutes by car from the airport to the ferry port. Paparisahomestay notes that Grab and Gojek may not pick up at the airport or the harbour, so the car is booked ahead.
  • Ferry to Waisai: the crossing takes about two hours. Under the schedule in effect since 1 September 2026, boats run daily at 09:00 and 14:00 in both directions, with only the 14:00 sailing on public holidays.
  • Combined itineraries: Bali + Raja Ampat trips of 7-14 days, with the option to add Komodo.
  • Bali stays: a buffer night before or after, plus permit guidance, so a schedule change doesn’t cost you the boat.

What is the desk not?

It doesn’t own an airline, a hotel, a ferry or a transfer company. Garuda, Lion Air, Batik Air and Pelita Air fly the route, and Bali hotels belong to their owners. The desk books them through vetted licensed partners and names each provider before you pay.

It doesn’t set park fees, which come from the Marine Park Authority and the Raja Ampat Regency. It doesn’t give legal, tax, immigration or financial advice either.

How does booking work?

  1. Send the basics. Give your dates, group size and the city you’re starting from. For 2027, dates and group size come first.
  2. Fix the date, then choose the boat. Park tickets are dated. July, August and Christmas weeks go first; Raja Ampat seas are generally calmer October-April, while Bali peaks June-September.
  3. Get a routing proposal. Nonstop day first, otherwise a UPG or CGK connection with seasonal buffer.
  4. Confirm with named providers. Your airline, hotel, vessel operator and transfer partner are named in writing. The reservations team sets out the payment terms.
  5. Receive the pre-departure pack. It covers Indonesia’s digital arrival card, which has used a single QR code since 1 September 2025; the Bali levy; the Raja Ampat permits (paid online or at Sorong harbour or the Waisai office); and your pre-booked Sorong car.

> Talk to a person about your route. Send your dates, group size and starting city to Komodo Luxury’s reservations team on WhatsApp at +62 811 3823 875 or email sales@komodoluxury.com. If you’d like to prepare first, the contact page lists what to include.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who runs the Bali Raja Ampat travel desk?

Komodo Luxury runs the desk. It is a Labuan Bajo operator, and its reservations team handles bookings directly. Juara Holding Group publishes the website. Airlines, Bali hotels, the Sorong-Waisai ferry and transfer firms are independent companies. The desk books them through vetted licensed partners and names each provider before you confirm.

Can the travel desk book my flight from Bali to Sorong?

Yes. Routing is the desk’s main job. It checks whether your dates match the roughly weekly Garuda GA 686 nonstop, which lands in Sorong at 05:40, early enough for the 09:00 ferry. If they don’t, it builds a one-stop route through Makassar or Jakarta, with 3-4 hour connections in the wet season.

Are Raja Ampat permit fees included in the travel desk’s plan?

They’re in your budget from the first proposal. The Raja Ampat conservation area service tariff for foreign tourists is IDR 1,000,000 per person per year; children under 12 and people with disabilities are exempt, as set in Pergub Papua Barat Daya No. 32/2024 (checked 2026-09-16). The regency levy is set by Raja Ampat Regency and confirmed at booking. You can pay online through the Marine Park Authority portal, or at Sorong harbour or the Waisai office. Neither fee is refundable once issued.

Is the travel desk a Raja Ampat cruise or dive operator?

No. The desk deals with the connection: flights, transfers, the ferry, permits and Bali stays around your Raja Ampat trip. Cruise formats, dive-site planning and yacht selection go to specialist desks in the Komodo Luxury network. The desk hands you over once your route is settled, so each question goes to the team that specialises in it.

How early should I contact the travel desk for a 2027 trip?

Contact the desk as soon as your dates are firm. July, August and Christmas weeks are requested first, and the nonstop runs only about once a week, so build your plan around it early. Send dates and group size in your first message. The park uses dated tickets, so your date has to be set before a boat can be confirmed.
