A Bali Raja Ampat honeymoon package gives you three slow Bali nights, one well-run flight day from Denpasar (DPS) to Sorong (SOQ) with meet-and-greet, then four to six nights in Raja Ampat on a private boutique phinisi or a partner-run island stay. This desk handles the link between the two places: the order of the trip, the flights, the connection in Sorong and the nights on either side. The boat is booked with Komodo Luxury. What do the 8-day and 11-day honeymoon plans look like?
Both plans put Bali first and give the flight its own day. Sorong runs one hour ahead of Bali, so “05:40 arrival” means Sorong time.

One caveat. Komodo Luxury’s standard Raja Ampat programmes run 7D6N to 11D10N, so a four-night honeymoon charter is shorter than usual. Whether a boat will take one depends on its calendar for your dates. If your long-haul flight leaves on Day 8, we’d strongly suggest adding a buffer night in Bali.

Bali or Raja Ampat first for a honeymoon?
Start in Bali. Three reasons:
- Buffer. A charter is locked to a date. If your international flight lands late, you lose a villa evening, not a boat day you’ve already paid for.
- Recovery. After a wedding and a long flight, most couples need two quiet nights before life on a boat.
- Paperwork. Indonesia’s single digital arrival card has combined the arrival card, customs declaration and health form behind one QR code since 1 September 2025. You deal with it once at DPS, along with Bali’s levy.
Starting in Raja Ampat only makes sense if you enter Indonesia through Jakarta, connect to Sorong and end the trip in Bali. It can work, but you have no slack before the boat.
What are the real extra costs?
The boat price is the big number, but it isn’t the only one. Here’s what a foreign couple should budget, as of 2026:

Rates for an Indonesian spouse are confirmed at booking. You can pay online through the Marine Park Authority portal, or in person at Sorong harbour or the Waisai office.
Fares vary a lot by source and date, so flights are quoted for your specific travel dates.
Which months are quietest?
The quietest window comes from where the two calendars overlap:
- Bali is busiest from June to September and during holiday weeks.
- Raja Ampat seas are generally calmer from October to April.
- Komodo Luxury reports that July, August and Christmas weeks get requested first.
That leaves October to November and late January to April as the calmest honeymoon months. The trade-off is Bali’s wet season, roughly November to March. In those months, ask for 3–4 hour connections at Makassar or Jakarta.
How does booking work?
- Send your dates, group size and the plan you want (8 or 11 days, boat or island).
- Lock the date first. Park tickets are dated, so the date comes before the boat name.
- Choose from the boats free on that date. Each is a whole-boat charter with its own chef and crew.
- Set the flights: the weekly nonstop if it fits your date, or a Makassar or Jakarta connection with buffer time.
- Pay permits and complete the arrival card before you fly, then get your pre-departure brief.

GA 686 leaves DPS around 01:30–01:40 and lands in Sorong at 05:40, after a block time of about three hours. That’s short, but it costs you a night’s sleep. It runs roughly once a week. Many couples prefer a daytime connection via Makassar, about 6h35 in total, and arrive rested.
Can we choose a private island stay instead of a phinisi?
Yes. A private island stay in Raja Ampat is arranged through vetted licensed partners. Komodo Luxury doesn’t own the property, and prices are given on request for your dates. Island days at Piaynemo and Wayag are then arranged by day boat, and the Sorong–Waisai ferry takes about two hours, departing daily at 09:00 and 14:00.
